The last NEOLAiA Coffee was a great success, and participants had nothing but praise for it. As one student from the Faculty of Arts said: “I really enjoyed the NEOLAiA Coffee event… I also appreciate the opportunity to hear how students from different cultural backgrounds perceive studying at our university. And the fact that you get to practice English while having a nice chat over coffee and cake is a great bonus.”
Jakub from the Faculty of Science had a similar experience. “I really liked the friendly atmosphere and the environment where I didn’t have to worry about my opinions being dismissed,” he said.
According to Kath Khangpiboon from the Faculty of Social Studies, such initiatives are very important: “Listening to the voices of the community is paramount… Promoting understanding around inclusivity and diversity is a crucial social skill that must be fostered.”
Discussions among students revealed that they appreciate the close-knit community at the university, the buddy program at the Faculty of Science, free therapeutic services, and various student activities. On the other hand, they would welcome a more multicultural environment, less bureaucracy, and better information about the opportunities the university offers. And that’s exactly what these meetings are about – coming up with ideas for improvement together!
NEOLAiA Coffee is part of the NEOLAiA alliance, which connects universities and promotes internationalization and innovation in education. If you’re interested in learning how you can be part of this initiative, come talk to us!
We look forward to seeing you in March! Come, enjoy a coffee, and become part of something bigger. Don’t forget: Tuesday, March 11, 4:00 pm at dOUpě.
