Ready, set, move. OU Sports Day starts on 7 May

Doing something good for yourself, enjoying sport together and spending an active day in a friendly atmosphere — that is exactly what Ostrava University Sports Day is all about. The event will take place on Thursday 7 May at the OU City Campus. It is organised by the Department of Human Movement Studies at the Faculty of Education in cooperation with the OU Centre for Marketing, Communication and Popularisation, and is open to both university staff and students.

This year’s programme will offer a varied mix of activities for everyone who enjoys movement in any form. Participants can look forward to footvolley, beach volleyball, 3×3 basketball and badminton, as well as dance aerobics, self-defense and yoga.

There will also be an opportunity to try indoor climbing under the supervision of experienced instructors, or to work out independently in the fitness centre, where students will be on hand to offer advice. As in previous years, there will also be walking, canoeing and cycling trips.

Sports Day is not only a chance to get active, but also an opportunity to meet people from across the university and perhaps try an activity there is usually no time for during a regular working or study week. This year, the event is made even more accessible by the rector’s day off announced for 7 May.

Advance registration is required for all activities through the KSLP system, no later than Tuesday 5 May, via this link.

All sports equipment will be available to borrow on site, including climbing gear. If you have any questions, you can contact the event coordinator, Dominik Šindler.
