On March 11, 2025, students from the University of Ostrava gathered at OUško for an exciting event under the NEOLAiA alliance of European universities. Over free coffee and snacks, Czech and Erasmus students from diverse backgrounds—including Korea, Vietnam, Turkey, France, and Poland—came together to exchange ideas, share experiences, and discuss the future of internationalization at OU.

The event featured a program full of interactive activities aimed at improving student life. Highlights included a contest for the best study tips, a SWOT analysis of internationalization (where participants identified strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the international student experience at OU), and “Icebreaker Bingo” – a fun activity to help students get to know each other more easily. After the event, students headed to the city center, where the conversations continued in a more relaxed setting.

What were the key takeaways from the SWOT analysis? The discussion revealed several strengths of the University of Ostrava, including affordable public transport, a friendly environment, strong exchange programs, and helpful mobility coordinators.

On the flip side, students pointed out the need for more courses in English, more multilingual events, and easier access to information about mobility opportunities.

Participants were enthusiastic about the event and expressed interest in attending future NEOLAiA meetups:

„It was a great event! I came tired, but once I arrived, I forgot all about it. Meeting people from different countries was an amazing experience.“
